Java & Jakarta EE
Java, Jakarta EE, Apache TomEE, Tomcat, application server migrations and version upgrades.
Fractional technical leadership, architecture and security. Twenty years building systems that are not allowed to fall over — and leading the teams that build them.
My profession is software engineering — not office IT. I lead the engineering team at Tomitribe, where we build and maintain the Java application servers that critical systems run on. Alongside that, I take on consulting and technical leadership engagements, in Touraine, in Paris or remotely.
What I bring is not a list of technologies: it is the habit of systems whose downtime shows, whose vulnerabilities cost money, and whose yesterday’s shortcuts always come back round.
If what you are after is an agent that can answer your customers, or automations for your business, the AI & automation service is the one you want.
Java, Jakarta EE, Apache TomEE, Tomcat, application server migrations and version upgrades.
OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, Google SSO, JWT, PKI, vulnerability review and patching.
REST and GraphQL APIs, stateless architectures, microservices, high availability, performance diagnosis.
AWS, Google Cloud, Docker, continuous integration and delivery pipelines, observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
Claude, GPT and Gemini in production: tool-using agents, RAG over your own data, model selection, cost control and keeping your data where it belongs.
Shopify, Merchant Center product feeds, trustworthy conversion tracking, payment and analytics integration.
A few days a month, over the long run, for a company that cannot afford a full-time CTO but already has a CTO's problems: technology decisions, hiring, technical debt, architecture reviews, bringing the team up to speed.
A few days to reach a diagnosis: architecture, application security, performance, technical trade-offs. You come away with a written report and decisions, not a list of best practices.
Alongside an existing team: Java or Jakarta EE development, migrating an application server, putting single sign-on in place.
Sessions on Jakarta EE, application security, architecture or working with AI. I taught for four and a half years at master's level at Polytech'Tours and ran a large group's annual technical conference.
Shopify, product feeds, conversion tracking and analytics integration — where the engineering and the acquisition side meet.
I use AI every day, Claude first, GPT and Gemini as the case demands. It has changed how fast I work. It has changed nothing about what makes a system hold up or fall apart.
A model produces plausible code very quickly. Knowing whether that code is correct, whether it will hold under load, whether it opens a vulnerability, and whether it will still be maintainable in three years — that part cannot be improvised. I spend my days fixing vulnerabilities in code written by experienced humans: I know what a mistake that does not look like a mistake looks like.
That is the whole distance between a team shipping three times faster and a team accumulating three times faster a debt it can no longer read. What I bring is not the tool — you already have it. It is judgement about what it produces, and a method for your team to acquire that judgement too.
From €750 / day
From €2,400 / month
Fractional technical leadership, three days a month.
Excluding VAT. The daily rate covers audits, reinforcement and training; fractional leadership is a monthly retainer, because what you are buying there is sustained presence rather than a meter running. Availability is checked at our first conversation — as everywhere else on this site, I only commit to what I can deliver.
Member of the Apache Software Foundation since 2008, Project Management Committee Chair of Apache Geronimo and Apache Johnzon, contributor to the Jakarta EE specifications and to the Java Community Process expert groups. I currently lead engineering at Tomitribe, where we maintain application servers running in production at large enterprises.
